Real Conservatives

A place where patriotic Americans can discuss the disasterous issues -- and their causes-- that threaten our freedom, our sovereignty, and our very way of life. Perhaps, if enough of us want to go beyound discussing, we can energize the voters and encourage honest, conservative politicians, then help take the United States back where it belongs (a true constitutional republic, as we were designed).

Illegal Immigration is still with us, only now it's "Migration."

The front page headline in yesterday's newspaper read, "Jobless Rate in U.S. Climbs to 5 Percent." A sub-heading read "The news causes stocks and the dollar to fall and talk of recession to grow." Is this real news to most Americans? It seems as if the only people surprised are government employees.

The store where I work sells to contractors and builders, and I have kept track the past two months of people coming into the store seeking leads on employment. During that time, twelve people have come in not to buy but to seek leads on empoyment. These were all construction related workers, and each of them had been "laid off." Twelve job seekers in two months may not sound like many, but to go from zero to about three a week is quite an increase.

In each instance, I was told that their postions had been filled by Mexicans. Please understand that I have nothing against Mexicans, and I do not blame the illegal aliens for coming here and obtaining jobs -- I would probably do the same thing in their positions. I am not sure if I would do the same thing that the builders and contractors are doing, which is firing my employees and hiring these illegal aliens.

The people with whom I visited were let go are now out of work not as a result of there being no work; indeed, the contractors and builders have quite enough work to stay as busy as they wish. Those twelve people are out of work because they were displaced by illegal immigrants, and I do not believe that these now-unemloyed carpenters, painters and concrete workers are isolated examples. What is clear is that at least some of our high unemloyment is due to some employers hiring almost three illegals for the cost of one American citizen.

We have a severe problem here in the good-old U.S.A. We are under attack and are being invaded by people who are not at all interested in joining us as a nation. Fact is, many of them are openly hostile to our culture, our values and our traditions while welcoming the benefits of living and working here.

America is receiving no help from the Catholic Church. Well, perhaps the church should not get openly involved in "political" things such as this. It might be wrong for the church to promote "American" values, culture, tradition, economy, etc. Not to worry, the church is not doing this. Instead, the church is in lockstep with the "Ban the Border" crowd. The Catholic church, at least in my diocese, has declared this "Migration Week." Parishioners are urged to welcome all immigrants ("legal and otherwise") and help them gain emloyment and receive the benefits that "they deserve."

Please tell me, am I missing something here? Why are we sitting back meekly and being bullied into giving away our jobs and tax dollars to people who not only fail to say 'Thanks,' but demand more? Why are we sitting back and listening only to talk of health care reform and environmental protection from our politicians and candidates?

Is it because Americans are afraid to face the challenge of standing up for ourselves and our culture? Or have we have been brainwashed into believing that we owe everything that anyone demands, and we are racists and bigots if we do not cheerfully go along with every social program to bring more diversity to our nation?

Now the church, at least the Catholic Church via the Council of Bishops, has proclaimed that we owe it to Christ to welcome the immigrants, legal or not. The Catholic Church has proclaimed that the week beginning January 6 is "Migration Week."

The sad thing is that we are doing it.

Back in the Saddle Again

My blog locked me out after my computer crashed, and it has taken all this time to get up and running again. A lot has changed since my last blog, but not much good has happened. Yes, the Comprehensive Immigration (Amnesty) Bill was defeated, but that was a hollow victory because they're at it again with new creative ways to further destroy our economy, our work force, and our sovereignty. The illegal alien problem continues to worsen, but our politicians debate the ridiculous as opposed to the important issues.

Our Presidential candidates are really in an "American Idol" contest, and most of them offer no hope of leading us out of the mess in which we are enmeshed. Ron Paul is the only decent candidate, and his chances are dismal at best because his pedigree does not include the CFR or the Trilateral Commission, and he wants us OUT of the UN (gasp)! Dr. Paul is also a strict Consitutionalist, and this hurts because most voters (and politicians) think we are a democracy and have not read the Constitution.

Anyway, I will be separating the wheat from the chaff, as it were, and be roaring back soon.

What are your comments as to what's happening?

Maybe It's Time For a REAL Change

We hear it all the time, or at least during the election hoopla: "It's time for a change!" Trouble is that after being told that "we can do better," or promised that we have a "fresh start," nothing ever changes, at least for the better. The middle class is is being tread on and is losing ground almost daily--it should be on an endangered species list. Fact is that illegal aliens are faring much better than the average citizen concerning having the ear of our government, and having the do-gooders cow-towing to their needs.

Yes, it is indeed time for a change, and we have no choice but to simply forget about the two major political parties. Republicans and Democrats have done an equally horrible job, and all we hear is "conservatives" blaming "liberals" (and vice versa) for the mess we are in. We are all to blame. Some of us have caused the problem, and some us let it happen. As far as having leadership to find a solution ... well, where can be found a leader?

President Bush? He campaigned as a Conservative Christian, cleverly emroidering into his speeches snippets of Bible verses and Christian hymns. Yet George W. Bush may go down in history as the President who dismantled the United States: He has every intention of taking the United States into a "North American Community," where there will be no more border crises because there will be no more borders. Until then, President Bush has no intention of doing anything about the invasion through the southern border, and I am not speaking only about illegal Mexicans. On another front, the reach of government regulation into the lives of average citizens is expanding exponentially, and there is no sign of a let up.

The President could demonstrate leadership in moral and ethical matters, but under George W. Bush's watch we have gay "marriage" and other moral issues gaining the high ground of public approval, and so much government interference in our public schools that learning is almost impossible. The national disgrace of abortion on demand has become so commonplace that we can with a straight face argue that our daughters should not be able to obtain asprin from the school nurse but should receive contraceptives and, if those fail, abortions.

True, the President does not have legal jurisdiction into these and other local matters, but the Federal reach has extended well into such affairs under George W. Bush's leadership. We regularly see that he is not without influence, as was demonstrated when the President wanted C.A.F.T.A., the "trade" agreement, passed in both houses of Congress.

President Bush has used the leadership of his office, he just has not used it to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution, and Congress has not exercized its Constitutionally authorized oversight to hold him accountable.

Speaking of Congress, our elected representatives have failed in almost every conceivable way, except in the important things such as demanding investigations, attaching blame, hiding behind their political parties' special interests, and telling their constituents what they want to hear.

Our elected leaders have failed us, and we, the voters, have let it happen. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there is not much left to conserve, but there is still something that can be done. The solutions to problems that our nation faces cannot be entrusted to those who have contributed to the problem, so there is only one thing left:

VOTE OUT EACH AND EVERY INCUMBANT!

Yes, some will say, "Oh, but we need experienced "leaders" in office. No. Experienced liars, thieves and deal-makers is the last thing we need. What we need more than ever are elected representatives who are more afraid of going home and facing their constituents than they are of facing their political party bosses.

Elected representatives need to know that their feet will be held to the fire when they do not represent the people who gave them their jobs, and they also need to know that the first litmus test is that they must follow the Constitution.

So, when going to the polls next month, forget about the political party labels: Fact is the Republicans and Democrats are politically like Coke and Pepsi ... one is a bit sweeter than the other, but they are the same substance.

Forget about "Liberal" and "Conservative" labels--we all agree that things are nearing a melt-down--and focus instead on where the candidate stands on Consitutional issues. We have had far too much of the emotional, it's-the-right-thing-to-do approach to serious problems such as the health insurance problem, the illegal alien problem, the welfare state problem, etc.

Vote them out, to the last man and woman. Then, if their replacements do not do the job, vote them out.

A Very Good Question, Indeed

Let me begin by defining a few terms. When I say "Illegal Alien" (I-A for short), I am not referring to the untold numbers of freedom-seeking people who came to the United States to become American citizens. These people often sacrificed vocations, homes, and left families behind to build new lives. They became part of the "melting pot" of America. When I say "I-A" I am referring to people who sneak into our nation with no intention of seeking anything approaching honorable citizenship. I am referring to lawbreakers, trespassers, welfare-seekers, terrorists ... well, anything other than model would-be citizens.

I know, I know, they are "doing jobs no one else will do." So what? Is this justification for allowing them to stay and drain our money and physical resources? This is not the issue, though, only a diversion. The actual issue is that we are being overrun by illegal aliens (not immigrants). We do not have an "Immigration Problem." Today's crisis is a result of not protecting our borders, and that is the problem.

The next term I need to define, or more approriately differentiate, is the "Office of the President" (OOP). This is the highest elective office in our nation and deserving of all our respect, so the shorthand term "OOP" is not intended to show disrespect. OOP is intended as different usage than "our President," which will, naturally, refer to the person who occupies the highest elective office in our nation.

We live in interesting times, do we not? The flood of I-As over our southern border has generated a politically-correct circus, in which everyone who is against illegal entry is vilified as a "racist" or "bigot" who hates immigrants. Do I hate immigrants? Of course not; my anscestors were immigrants. Am I a racist? Well, in some ways I probably am because it seems to me that everyone has a bit of this in their makeup. But do I catagorize people by stereotypes according to skin color or national decent or religious background? I honestly do not believe I do ... at least, I try not to fall into that trap.

One of the nasty things about this I-A business, though, is that it enables some people to make race an issue when race has nothing to do with the problem. The "racist" label is effective (beause most of us have a bit of this in our makeup), and is thus an excellent means by which the people who hurl this accusation are able to bully or shame Americans into accepting I-As, regardless of who these people are and from where they come. The government is doing this, churches are doing it from pulpits, are schools are getting into the act. The liberal media are leading the charge in at least two ways: By being overly sympathetic to I-As (even though their problems are brought on by their illegal presence); and by neglecting to cover the real problem of our nation being invaded and the financial drain this is causing.

Let us be clear, this invasion of illegal aliens has nothing to do with racism or bigotry (although these can be some manifestations of class warfare that sometimes occurs when people are unwillingly forced together). The invasion has everything to do with our President's plan to participate in merging the United States and Mexico, along with Canada, into a "Community" along the lines of the European Union. Some other partners in This Plan are Mexican and Canadian government officials. Yet our President is a willing participant, and these plans are moving along in concert with the international elitists and financiers who are really running things, so let us not place the blame on, or give credit solely to, our President (after all, it wasn't his idea).

It is obvious that the I-A crisis was a planned strategy to make a problem so large that it could not be solved and must instead be accomodated. After all, is it really credible to believe that, after 9/11 and with all the Homeland Security apparatus, we suddenly were not able to control the southern border and this crisis erupted? We had the resources ... hey, we mobilized and invaded Iraq. No, we had the resources but they were not used were they were needed, and this makes the term "Homeland Security" the oxymoron of the century. The Fed did not lift a finger to safeguard our citizens, and has vilified the Minutmen when these patriots began doing what the Fed should have been doing all along ... providing for the common defense. Our southern border was not, and is not, controlled because our Federal government did not want to control it, and still does not want it controlled.

Now our Senate has voted to give to I-As Social Security benefits. Immigraton laws are openly flaunted, regardless of the rhetoric about hiring illegals. A "Please Speak English" sign at a fast-food restaurant recently brought down the wrath of negative public opinion. Isn't it obvious what is happening? This invasion, and the requisite rush to accomodate the I-As, is an important part of an agenda to make the United States go away. And going away we are ... if not in name, certainly in substance. The biggest problem is that this has happened so gradually, at least until recently, that everyone seems to have not noticed. Have you noticed changes in our society and in our culture? Do you like these changes?

We were once united. We were a nation united in purpose. We were united in an undying thirst for individual freedom and responsibility. We had a common language, and a common heritage that shared a common pride in our sovereignty and our place, and responsibility, as the leader of the world. It now seems as if we are divided on almost all fronts. We cannot seem to agree on anything except, according to the media, how evil and destructive is anything not touting diversity and tolerance over unity and individual responsibility. This has been done to prepare us for a merger with Canada and Mexico.

Our collective identity--the cultural and societal cohesion that united Americans--is being torn apart by all this forced diversity. We are now mostly a pack of bickering special-interest groups, all shouting and waving our hands to gain the approval of a politically correct elite. To make matters worse, we have let it happen. We sat back and did nothing when our President courted and went to bed with Mexico's President Fox. Congress sells us out at every opportunity, yet we continue electing the same pack of politicians who regularly violate their sacred oath of allegiance to our Constituition. Even when it gags us, we still sit and let the politically-correct media, politicians, lawyers, teachers and clergy cram diversity down our throats until we are afraid to even admit we love our country.

I'll cogitate on this for a bit, them come back with more. But, in a nutshell, This is why we have to press '1' for English!

Word Games

I am wondering if the labels "conservative" and "liberal" are such a good thing anymore. This pondering began some time ago, but it was renewed when a comment arrived (for some reason, this comment would not publish, but I replied to the comment via e-mail). Here is what the person who commented had to say:

'Why do certain folks describe themselves as conservatives, in this day and age when there is nothing left to conserve?

Certainly one does not want to define onesself by ideology, as Russell Kirk repeatedely warms in his surveys such as The Conservative Mind. Kirk and his paleo friends WERE conservatives, because back then there was something intact and worthy of conservation.

Today that's not the case.

Today, one must describe oneself as a reactionary, or a counter-revolutionary. Today's conservatives are the enemy.'

Of course, there are today still some things worth conserving: What's left of the checks-and- balances of our three branches of government; our Constitution; free elections, to name some of these things. Predictably, there are a few perils on the horizon. There is the ever-present danger of a Supreme Court ruling that the Constitution is unconstitutional (don't laugh too loudly). It is beyond possible and now probable that Congress will completely abdicate all its collective responsibilities of oversight, thus setting the stage for a "King" to take up residence in the White House. We may eventually surrender all of our legislative and judicial authority to a world body that is not accountable for its decisions (can you say UN?).

But, for now, there is still something worthy of conserving. The main task is to hang on to what we still have, then reclaim what has been given away or snatched from our hands.

So maybe the labels, "liberal" and "conservative" are only word games. Perhaps they are terms guaranteed to push emotional buttons, such as during the fiasco when the U.S. House of Representatives voted on CAFTA . You may recall that, during the voting, the "conservative" Republicans basically said, Hey, if the liberals are against it, we've got to be for it!

A better term for "conservative" might be "Constitutionalist."

A Very Good Question

Real Conservatives

Well, there is a lot of talk about "Conservatives" nowadays, isn't there? Some so-called conservatives are "Moderate" and others are "Compassionate." Few, it seems, are genuinely conservative. The very definition of "conservative" is, and should be ... conserving what was intended in the beginning. Granted, this is not exactly a dictionary rendering of the term, but that is what being conservative should be; conserving, not changing what was created.

With that thought in mind, I have created this blog to try and bring together like-minded, patriotic Americans who do not wish to see our country go away. Once we are together, the plan is to find a way to stop the disasterous chain of events that is ruining our once-great nation. We do not need to try and make America better -- it was already the best and most prosperous country in the world. What we need to do is return America to its basic, constitutional, rule of law. Period. If we do not remember the height from which we have fallen, remember the things we used to do (and forget somethings we should not be doing), and do what we did in the beginning, American as we once knew it is going to go away.

I am just setting up this blog, so please bear with me. Also, please share your thoughts, and recommend this blog to your friends (particularly liberals, who need to understand just how bad things are and how much worse they can get!).
